01 / OVERVIEW

Prototype builds, controls, and machine integration for Utah manufacturers.

Mithril Solutions helps inventors, owner-operators, and small manufacturers turn rough ideas or stubborn production problems into buildable scopes, working prototypes, controls packages, sourcing paths, and field-ready handoff docs. Mechanical design, VFD/PLC/HMI work, supplier coordination, and startup support stay coordinated by one technical shop. PE-stamped or code-regulated portions are handled through Utah licensed firms when required.

◆ PATHWAY NOTE
Most projects begin with Technical Discovery unless a defined scope already exists. About 80% of projects are expected to stay at or below roughly $7,500; larger builds depend on system complexity, documentation requirements, safety risk, travel, parts, schedule pressure, commissioning uncertainty, emergency/weekend work, and vendor review needs.

03 / REPAIR + RETROFIT

Repair, retrofit, and control work for odd machines.

If a machine moves, indexes, turns, lifts, feeds, pumps, heats, senses, or needs a motor controlled, Mithril can often diagnose it and build the repair path. Search engines call these different things: ag repair, pump control repair, motor troubleshooting, VFD retrofit, conveyor troubleshooting, auger controls, PLC/HMI upgrades, machine commissioning, or farm equipment controls. We treat them as overlapping control-and-integration problems.

Machine repair + retrofit

Old machines, obsolete controls, failed sensors, motor starters, and wiring cleanup for Utah shops, farms, and small manufacturers.

  • old lathe control issues
  • motor / sensor troubleshooting
  • retrofit notes for handoff

Control panels + VFD

Machine panels, VFD cabinets, pump panels, operator stations, PLC/HMI updates, commissioning, and clean field-service notes.

Conveyors, augers, feeders

Intermittent starts, jam detection, level sensors, feed-rate control, and small automation upgrades for production or farm equipment.

04 / PROCESS

How an engagement moves from call to handoff.

Four phases. We tell you where you are, what decisions are in front of you, what it costs, and what the next gate is — in writing.

01
PHASE — INTAKE

Walkthrough & scope

30-minute call, sometimes a site visit. We leave with a one-page scope, a budget range, and a yes/no on whether we're the right technical partner.

Free · 1 — 3 days
02
PHASE — QUOTE

Decision memo + quote

Written quote with a fixed price or clear T&M cap, line-item deliverables, and the design or procurement decisions that have to be locked before work starts.

Scoped fee · credited
03
PHASE — EXECUTION

Refine, prototype, procure

Weekly check-ins, shared drawings and BOMs, and visible design decisions. We refine the concept, coordinate prototypes, and source what the project actually needs.

2 — 12 weeks
04
PHASE — HANDOFF

Deploy, document, hand off

Start-up support, signed punch-list, documentation package, operator walk-through, and a clean handoff so the next team is not guessing.

1 — 2 weeks

08 / APPROACH

Partner-backed machine systems integration.

Mithril coordinates practical machine systems work across a small core shop and trusted partner network: cutting presses, beam presses, clamshells, traveling heads, rewinds/unwinds, heated heads, pneumatic clamps, hydraulic systems, electrical enclosures, HMI updates, controls retrofits, sourcing, fabrication, field startup, and documentation.

The useful part is not one narrow slice. We turn messy production needs into workable machine specs, controls packages, safety changes, manuals, sourcing decisions, and customer-facing technical handoff — from quote/spec through commissioning support. PE-stamped or code-regulated portions stay with Utah licensed firms when required.

// APPLICATION FIT

Process to machine scope

Material, tonnage, die, feeding, heating, guarding, power, controls, and operator-use constraints turned into a practical equipment path.

// RETROFIT OWNERSHIP

Mechanical + electrical + controls

Cross-discipline retrofit scoping across hydraulics, pneumatics, VFDs/soft starts, HMI/PLC changes, enclosures, manuals, and vendor/factory constraints.

// CLEAR BOUNDARIES

Broad technical ownership, not overclaiming

Mithril owns integration, documentation, retrofit scoping, and practical handoff. Licensed review, stamped work, and regulated signoff are handled through licensed firms.

09 / FAQ

Questions we keep getting.

Read these before you send the form. Saves everyone a step.

Do you do licensed or stamped engineering?
No — not in-house. Work needing a PE stamp, code authority, or licensed review is performed by Utah licensed firms; Mithril supports integration, documentation, and build execution. You get a stamped drawing set on your records and a coordinated handoff.
What does a typical project cost?
Most projects land at or below about $7,500; larger integration, prototype, or materials-heavy builds can exceed that. We quote scope and spend limit up front.
How fast can you start?
Intake calls happen the same week. Paid scoped work usually starts within 2–4 weeks. Emergency integration (down-line machine) we'll flag on the call and try to pull in same-week.
Do you work outside Utah?
Yes. Best fit is Utah County and nearby counties: Salt Lake, Wasatch, Juab, Sanpete, Tooele, Carbon, and Sevier. Mountain West travel is considered by project scope; outside that we add travel and it gets harder to be cost-competitive against someone closer.
Who owns the design?
You do. Drawings, BOMs, program source, and the schematic set get handed over at the end of the project. We keep a copy for reference only.
What won't you take on?
Medical devices, life-safety without licensed review, classified hazardous-environment work, pure-software SaaS builds, and jobs where the customer wants us to skip documentation. We'll refer, not pretend.
